Becoming a Referee

If you are interested in becoming a referee for the Soccer Tribe, please go to this website for the steps needed to become a grassroots soccer ref: https://www.iowasoccer.org/referees/i-want-to-become-a-referee/

The steps needed are listed on the right hand side of that webpage. You will have to complete some online training as well as attend an in
person training class. When you click on step two, select "view all" at the bottom of the page and you'll see the list of courses being offered
around the Des Moines area. You can attend any of them that works for your schedule.

Once you complete the certification, please email our referee coordinator, Jeff Schortmann, at [email protected] to let him know so you
can be added to our distro list for scheduling games.

The Soccer Tribe will reimburse the cost of the course after each ref has refereed 10 games for us. We will also reimburse the recertification
fee each year after 10 games have been refereed that year. However, obtaining a referee uniform is on each ref. A good website for those is
here: https://officialsports.com/referee-uniforms/grassroots-referee/starter-kits/ (yellow is the normal color most refs wear).
